Join our team as an Environmental Program Manager, where you will play a pivotal role in managing complex multi-disciplinary environmental programs. This position involves overseeing NEPA document preparation, water quality permitting, cultural resources, hazardous materials investigations, and endangered species initiatives.

Provide strategic leadership to ensure VDOT's compliance with federal and state environmental laws and regulations.
Monitor and evaluate performance to ensure timely delivery of environmental clearances.
Direct program planning, implementation, and fiscal stewardship in alignment with organizational goals.
Manage a staff effectively, fostering a collaborative and informed team environment.

Minimum Qualifications


• Ability to train, direct, and evaluate the work of professional, technical, and administrative staff.

• Experience leading and managing environmental programs and staff.

• Skilled in projecting labor needs, estimating project costs, and monitoring budgets.

• Experience applying knowledge of federal, state, local environmental laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

• Knowledge of environmental impact assessment, avoidance, mitigation, and compensation as related to highway engineering and project construction.

• Experience applying knowledge of NEPA document preparation, water quality permitting requirements, and other environmental programs in a transportation context.


Additional Considerations


• Progressively responsible experience in management and oversight of staff performing review and clearance functions.

• A combination of training, experience, or education in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or related field desired.

• Progressively responsible experience in environmental management, planning or engineering.
