Our Location and Design Division offers an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and dynamic team as part of our Design Technology group. This role involves supporting 3D engineering software, delivering exemplary customer service and interact courteously and professionally with the public and other employees, while working closely with digital engineering technologies to drive innovative solutions.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:
Software Support and Troubleshooting:
o Provide ongoing support for digital engineering software.
o Troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered by end-users.
o Assist with software installation, configuration, and optimization.
o Maintain and update software documentation and user guides.
o Develop, test, and maintain PowerShell scripts to streamline processes, enhance system performance, and support software deployments.
Software Testing and Validation:
o Test and validate software updates before deployment.
o Assess the impact of patches or upgrades on existing workflows.
o Identify and resolve potential integration issues.
o Develop and customize digital engineering software solutions.
System Performance and Issue Management:
o Monitor system performance and address potential issues proactively.
o Implement solutions to minimize downtime and disruption.
o Address technical issues related to software and system performance.
Collaboration and Communication:
o Work closely with software developers and users to ensure updates meet operational needs.
o Collaborate with management on innovative projects and work programs.
o Communicate and negotiate with stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
Helpdesk and Technical Support:
o Manage and document technical support requests within the helpdesk system.
o Create, track, and update support tickets.
o Maintain records of user interactions and support activities.
o Identify trends in support requests and report recurring issues to management.
o Work in a diverse and rapidly changing work environments.
ProjectWise and Bentley CONNECT Services:
o Provide user setup and project setup for ProjectWise.
o Manage user permissions and support Bentley CONNECT Services.
o Connect projects with ProjectWise repositories and set up applicable CONNECT services.
Training and Documentation:
o Recommend and facilitate training options for users.
o Be actively involved in implementing and executing ProjectWise user training programs.
o Utilize Bentley Learning tools, Microsoft 365 Teams, and SharePoint for information sharing.
o Conduct onsite training as needed.
o Developing and implementing training programs, including creating training videos, presentations, and other educational resources.

This role combines technical expertise with user support and training responsibilities, ensuring that digital engineering software operates effectively, and users are well-supported.


Minimum Qualifications


• Skill in problem solving techniques.
• Experience applying highway engineering design policies, procedures and standards.
• Experience using CADD (Computer Aided Drafting & Design) software programs and related administrative processes.
• Skill in conducting research analysis.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.


 


Additional Considerations


• A combination of training, experience, or education in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field desired.
• Experience in leading cross-functional projects and ensuring alignment between different teams and external partners.
• Experience with Carlson Survey, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, Bentley OpenBridge Designer, and Bentley ProjectWise is highly preferred.
• Experience with scripting/program language.

VDOT is an emergency operation agency. Positions physically working within Central Office locations may be designated upon request and coordination among the respective District Engineer or Administrator and Chief. Assignments are updated annually. Not all designated employees are provided an emergency operations assignment.
